Did your recent resolutions lead you to find treasure?
It is by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life. Where you stumble, there lies your treasure.
— Joseph Campbell
Resolving to change begins the journey. But sometimes we stumble along the way. At the beginning of the Lenten Season, I wrote “Easter Sunday seems soooo far off… but when the time comes to look backwards, I’d like to know that I’d truly leveraged this opportunity, that I’d transformed these six weeks into “a time of growth and renewal.” At the time, I set out with three intentions: Continue reading » How’d Ya’ Do?

Life’s been all work and no play lately, you say?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Geez, three, count ’em THREE posts already from me about New Year’s resolutions – you’d think I was stukkk in resolution mode! But more than likely I’m stuck in feeling that, no matter how busy I am, no matter how much I do, “it’s just not enough”. I get to the end of the day and I make a list of what I did because, without it, I’m feeln’ like Continue reading » Stukkk in Resolutions

Resolutions ≠ Express Lane to What We Want
New Year’s Resolutions, like advertising copy, often tend to be filled with hyperbole and unwarranted optimism… and instead of striving to achieve our dreams, we end up playing doubting Thomas to our abilities. — Charles Dickens
And, under the influence of this post-Christmas haze, I’m walking through Continue reading » Room to Grow

It’s not that people have bad ideas, it’s that they quit.

Instant gratification, it’s what we’re all about. Most of us want to be rich or skinny or talented or married or divorced… NOW! Human nature being what it is we don’t like to wait for anything. We know that to lose weight healthily, we need to do it over time, gradually increasing our level of fitness and increasing the healthiness of the foods we eat. But, HECK, now that we’ve made the decision, we want the effect to be as close to instantaneous as possible. When it isn’t, we quickly get discouraged.
Some Things Take Time
As Albert Einstein said, “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.” The key to making time work for you is to have a vision that is so strong that it pulls you towards it every day. Think about it, we don’t have a problem planning for our Continue reading » Success Through Vision
