PattiAnn and I wish you the best of Christmases! Eat, pray, love… Yeah I know I stole that line but it seems to fit the season. So I say it again… as you gather with loved ones (or ones who need your loving presence) to eat, pray, love – may your celebration of Christmas paint your world with the colors of joy and good will.

Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. Brrrhhh!

Oops, I’m so cold I have brain freeze – I meant “here” not “hear”.

Lately I’ve been longing for a quick jaunt to my favorite winter getaway – anywhere with beaches still warm and balmy… But “getaway” isn’t in the tea leaves for me this winter. I’m officially “home for the holidays” – so my next best and “doable” choice is a good, long soak in a HOT tub… Or a ...Continue reading » It’s COLD Out There!

Yes, TOYS! I am of the not-so-humble opinion that toys are a secular aspect of Christmas that we should run toward… and, in childlike fascination, we should revel in ...Continue reading » Under the Tree – What Gifts Will You Find?

Today’s post is about an ordinary day about to go off track. AND about an extraordinary vista I almost missed in my haste and aggravation.

More and more, research is indicating that it is our habits, of thought, of action, and of belief, that determine how we feel. In fact, our thoughts are so important that we can change our lives by changing our thoughts.

This may seem so obvious as to be redundant for me to write it in a blog, but the fact is that while we may consciously know that our thoughts affect how we feel, many of us don’t consciously listen to that little ...Continue reading » Deliberately Finding Joy

I’ve been looking for a reason to use all these cute animal pictures that I’ve come across while searching for just the right photo for today’s post. At last I’ve found it. Telling you how wonderful it is to have pets.

If you are not a pet owner, the first thing you must understand is that for those of us without human children, our pets are our kids. The second thing you will need to accept is that I’m not exaggerating. My animals are my babies… maybe not the fish, but the four-legged ones are. (Fish look pretty swimming around in the tank, but beyond their beauty, they don’t give much back.) ...Continue reading » Why I Will Always Have Pets

How was your week? The one thing you can say for these big galumping moves is that after a while they’re almost boring. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I can give it to you on great authority that the best thing for your peace of mind is to not watch. Watching the market on these days is sure to put you on the funny farm.

Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine.

According to Steve Wilson, MA, CSP, a psychologist and laugh therapist:

Laughing more could make you healthier, but we don’t know [for sure and] I certainly wouldn’t want people to start laughing more just to avoid dying — because sooner or later, they’ll be disappointed. But we all know that laughing, being with friends and family, and being happy can make us feel better and give us a boost — even though studies may not show why.

When we use that phrase, we often mean that we’re working really, really hard… and not necessarily feeling good about it.

Have you ever watched a dog work? It truly is a sight to behold. Dogs work with such dedication and focus that they often put us to shame. Watch any service dog. Their focus is on the person that they are serving. They don’t get bored. There’s never a thought that the person isn’t good enough for them. They serve with their whole hearts.
