Have you ever put on someone’s prescription glasses and suddenly gone dizzy? Well I would suggest that’s how many of us are looking into the future – with lenses prescribed for the past. And those glasses are making us feel disoriented. There’s a mismatch between what we expect/want to see and what we actually see before us now.

My niece recently wrote on Facebook, “Cancer sucks”. And even though she hadn’t said it, most of our family thought “uh oh” and accurately assumed the worst – someone else in the family had just been diagnosed with cancer. Another someone has begun the arduous and prayerful journey of hope and courage, fighting for his life.

Living in Southern California we don’t get much change in the weather. Although it’s hard to tell by looking around, we actually live in a desert. We’ve done a great job of adding water to the environment to create a green look but we actually have desert weather… lots of sun, temperatures over 100 in some areas and very little rain, and cool nights.
Here, rain comes in two varieties, none and too much. We are perpetually in a drought condition even when it’s pouring and there are flash flood or mud slide warnings. There is a strong emphasis here in earthquake country on preparing for the next disaster. Be ready to react to the:
- Fire.
- Flood.
- Earthquake.
- Mudslide.
