We do not remember days; we remember moments.

— Cesare Pavese

In yesterday’s post, Ellie asked “…do you have something special that you’re saving for ‘just the right moment?’ WHEN will that moment be, do you know???”

That question really hit me because as I’ve been sorting thru the stuff at my folk’s house, it has become very apparent that they were saving everything for either a special moment or a rainy day.

One of the saddest things I’ve learned is Continue reading » Use It NOW!

Memory is a crazy woman that hoards colored rags and throws away food.

The summer after my senior year, we picked up and moved from Chicago to Phoenix.  When we left Chicago, we took a trailer of stuff so that we’d have the “essentials” in our new home, which was a tiny apartment.  Because we had left the non-essentials behind, none of our history came with us.  When the house in Chicago finally sold, it was Dad who went back and organized the move.  And even after everything was out in Phoenix, Continue reading » Memories

How soon ‘not now’ becomes ‘never’.

  • The Sweet Pea seeds I’ve not planted because I don’t have the exact “best” place for them
  • The “good china” lovingly packed in a top cupboard
  • The fancy perfume for “special occasions”
  • The gorgeous, home-grown tomatoes and squash we accidentally froze in the garage refrigerator while waiting for a propitious moment to serve them
  • The lotions and potions that seem too precious to “waste” on just my everyday arms and legs and face…

Perhaps it’s human nature to Continue reading » Have Fun Now!
