Ever caught a Purple Squirrel?
Sometimes… when you hold out for everything, you walk away with nothing.
— From the Ally McBeal show
Why am I asking about a Purple Squirrel? Because I saw one on TV! Probably it was a slow news day but whatever the cause, a newspaper article about Purple Squirrels went national on the evening news. And although the term seems to have originated with employment recruiters, I was intrigued with how well it could be applied to Continue reading » Purple Squirrel Hunting

Do you know what you believe and do your beliefs empower you? We may think we know what we believe but over time our beliefs change. We can be so busy that we don’t notice and unconscious beliefs can be the most helpful/hurtful beliefs that we hold.
For me, I find that I can be a great cheerleader for other people, because I see the possibilities in other people more easily than I see them in myself. AND I believe that other people can achieve, while being not so sure about what I can achieve.
Lately I’ve been suffering from writer’s block. For me writer’s block doesn’t mean that there’s nothing out there to write about. Rather, it means that there’s nothing that I want to write about. May you enjoy the advent of the holidays, put on the flash, take control and compromise as needed – make someone happy, be it you, someone else, or better still, BOTH!

Rufus reminded me just how specific we have become about what we want. If we can’t find exactly what we want, we create it. We tend to not accept things as they are but instead we try and find Continue reading » Loving the Holidays

How do you work with difficult people?
This last weekend I traveled out of town to attend an investing class. A friend of mine drove down from where she lives about 3.5 hours away and we shared a hotel room the night before the class. This is the second time that we’ve traveled together.
Both times, we were pleasantly surprised how well we traveled together. Each of us is single and enjoys living alone with our dogs. She is an early morning person — wakes up naturally at 6:00, or o’dark thirty, as I like to call it. I’m an early morning person too, but my early morning is when I go to bed. I’m up until midnight or 1:00 most nights.
