Remember
This December,
That love weighs more than gold!
— Josephine Dodge Daskam Bacon
And we’re off… on the rush to get from Thanksgiving to Christmas and get everything done that needs to be done. Somehow, we need to shove 8 weeks of shopping, cooking, entertaining, partying and traveling all into the four weeks between the two holidays.
I suppose that there is some comfort in the hurley-burley of racing around and getting things done. It helps us to not notice that our nest is empty or our parents have gone. If we’re busy focused on the tasks, maybe we won’t Continue reading » Dang, It’s the Holidays!

Worries Got You Up a Tree?
Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.
— Proverb
Back in my tree-climbing days I pondered my troubles and nursed my hurts nestled high in the generous leaves of our front yard Alder tree.
The Alder is a tree that supports and protects physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Its associations with both weapons and shields reminded the ancient Celts that part of the skill of the warrior lies in knowing when to take up the sword and when to take up the shield…
The alder reminds us of the need to blend strength and courage with generosity of spirit and compassion. There is a time to challenge things and a time to hold our peace.

- Relaxation
- Understanding
- Privacy
- Fitness
- Chocolate

- Love
- Money
- Exercise
- Peace of mind
- Health
- Friendship
- Organization

Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.
— Unknown
For the recent holiday weekend I proclaimed myself a four-day-weekend and set about doing a myriad of tasks that used to be either “he or we” projects, never mine alone… I was busy, busy, busy. I was “letting go”.
Letting Go Ain’t for the Faint of Heart
Letting go takes a lot of work and determination. It’s MUCH easier to just let things be. But I knew that moving on, transitioning “from we to me”, required doing “what don’t come easy”… and I, not someone else, needed to do the choosing: keep or let go?
It Was a Close Call
There was a point when I despaired of ever making any decisions, I just couldn’t bear to let go of anything no matter what it was. So how’d I power through? Continue reading » Busy, Busy Days on the Way to Letting Go
