I applaud you for bringing these concepts of "kicking ourselves in the butt" ideas. It fits right in with cognitive therapy that the psychologists have been using for years with great zeal. They have you keeping daily charts of your emotions and how "pretending" and behaving that whatever negative emotion can be overcome by physically behaving differently. Hence came the slogan "fake it 'til you make it" came into being.

We are right back to that mind/body connection again. You can physically change your thoughts/emotions by doing something physical with the mind such as deep breathing when you feel anxiety. Or going to the gym when you feel absolutely no energy.

And of course we have Norman Vincent Peale who probably started the whole movement with the Power of Positive Thinking back in the 50's.

Kudos to you for reminding us all; we can control ourselves emotionally to some extent and remove obstacles from our lives.

That was great, Ellie!!! I loved your poems... but, rather than pigeon- English/French' I detected a little "Yoda Speak!" To read your random reflections on our daily lives I love. Yes, hmmm.

Thanks, Ellie, for the "walk down memory lane..." I also remember the outdoor incinerators, wringer washing machines, and clothes lines that would allow our starched, scratchy slips to dry straight out.
Oh, yes... the good ole days. Remember the free summer programs at most of the grammar schools? We spent a lot of time preparing our lunches, walking there ... it must have been miles ;) .... playing softball, carom board games, and free black and white movies (usually Abbot and Costello!) and walking home. No wonder we were tired and went to our back yards to read another chapter of
Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys.... Yes, those were the days! Delightful article!

Ok,so this isn't a blog about how to use coffee grounds but here's another one for the list. Use your coffee grounds or left over coffee on your roses or other acid loving plants. Someone told me this a while ago and my roses all get the benefit of coffee grounds. Based on what Ellie wrote, they probably don't have ants either.
