Whimsy Day!

Ever find yourself short on whimsy just when you need it the most?

In the spirit of friendship, I’m declaring today

In my last post I suggested – no make that advocated – that when we find ourselves getting dragged down by the weight of the world, we could use whimsy as a lifeline back to sanity, resilience and perseverance … and in support of that advocacy, I’m dedicating this particular post as a present to you; it offers a bunch of silly diversions that have tickled my fancy and left me LOL – laughing out loud – and, upon occasion, ROFLOL – rolling on floor laughing out loud…

For instance, I recently received an email from none other than “Mr. Goodluck Hopewell” telling me I’d been awarded millions of dollars… Now I ask you – is there really some spammer out there who BELIEVES we would fall for that???

And if that hasn’t gotten you to at least the smirk stage, try this:

bunny slippersBunny slippers remind me of who I am. You can’t get a swelled head if you wear bunny slippers. You can’t lose your sense of perspective and start acting like a star or a rich lady if you keep on wearing bunny slippers.

Besides, bunny slippers give me confidence because they’re so jaunty. They make a statement; they say:

“Nothing the world does to me can ever get me so far down that I can’t be silly and frivolous.”

If I died and found myself in Hell, I could endure the place if I had bunny slippers.

Surely these two guys will put a smile on your face:

Oh look!  This one comes with sound effects!

And how about this: “elephants as artists” – would you be willing to pay for one of these masterpieces???

Goofiness aside, perhaps this elegant eye candy, little “Fáni” sculpture (made of titanium, silver and a rock-crystal ball) might be worthy of your hard earned dough…

Or, how about these nifty socks – wear ’em, hole in the big toe and all, and surely you will laugh your way through the day!  At the very least, your toes will be giggling!

And finally, let us remember:

Today, I have a choice: to live unsatisfied and distracted by a life-yet-to-be or to live now — to enter into, to be present in, to savor THIS life.

Silly is you in a natural state, and serious is something you have to do until you can get silly again.

Where will you keep your stash of whimsy for when you need it the most???

Take a short break and consider the following:

“A friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil; but it needs a little mulch of letters and phone calls and small, silly presents every so often - just to save it from drying out completely.”
