Where do you find your life lessons?
Play acts as a forward feed mechanism into courageous, creative, rigorous thinking…
— Tina Bruce
Sometimes life lessons are learned the hard way… and afterwards, we pick ourselves up and ask: Ok, what did I learn? And then we carry on.
Sometimes life lessons are learned the easy way… they’re delivered by other people who have learned and shared.
And sometimes life lessons are learned in play. So today, indulging my laziness with some levity, I share with you some life lessons delivered by “a farmer on a tractor”. Actually, they were delivered to me in an anonymous email epistle… they tickle my fancy and leave me pondering things great and small; hopefully they’ll do the same for you!
Play & Ponder…
I invite you to playfully enjoy these “Life Lessons from a Farmer on a Tractor”… may you chuckle with laughter and find useful insights into your life as you know it:
The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every mornin’.
Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered……not yelled.
Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.
Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
You cannot unsay a cruel word.
Every path has a few puddles.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Don’t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering you none.
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.
Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God.
— Some Anonymous “Farmer” Somewhere
OK, now go back and pick one to guide your day, your week, your life as you know it. Make it a good one!
A moment’s insight is sometimes worth a life’s experience.
— Oliver Wendell Holmes
