I need a bye so I’m going to indulge my lazy; hopefully my bye will work for you and for me.
Bye: when a participant advances to the next round without playing.
— Merriam-Webster.com
Our family celebrated Mother’s Day on Saturday afternoon/evening so that all the Moms could enjoy a real-deal-day-off on Sunday… but I forgot to make real-deal-day-off plans and, as a result of this lack of pre-planning on my part, I also didn’t prepare any posts for this week. And now it’s Sunday, the “for real” Mother’s Day and I’m in the midst of my very own I-want-the-day-off-too writer’s block. My lazy solution: I’m taking a bye!
Kids Say the Darndest Things
For my lazy writer’s bye I’ve chosen an email titled: Why God Made Moms. (And I send a very grateful “thank you” to one of our readers, innesimages, who forwarded it to me.)
Imagine if you will, a squirmy bunch of 7-year-olds explaining why God made Moms… You KNOW they’re gonna come up with some whoppers! Here’s my favorite:
What would it take to make your mom perfect?
Diet. You know, her hair. I’d diet, maybe blue.
Just for fun – take a moment to pick your favorite question and think about your own answer to one of these:
- How did God make mothers?
- What ingredients are mothers made of?
- Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
- What kind of a little girl was your mom?
- What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
- Why did your mom marry your dad?
- Who’s the boss at your house?
- What’s the difference between moms and dads?
- What does your mom do in her spare time?
- What would it take to make your mom perfect?
- If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
And then, if you have another moment to spare, take a peek at what the other kids said at Beliefnet.com where the Why God Made Moms email originated. Enjoy your memories!
So that’s my bye. And now I’m gonna take a real-deal-day-off… see ya later! Hope you and yours had a wonderful Mother’s Day… Hugs to you!
People who throw kisses are hopelessly lazy.
